Ebolavirus produces severe hemorrhagic fever driven by high death rates. It is passed chiefly by close contact infectious fluids of infected individuals. It is found parts of Africa, with outbreaks often occurring in rural areas. Notable epidemics include 2014-2016 West African outbreak, impacting Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. The 2020 outbreak occurred in 2020 the DRC. Clinical signs typically appear in 2-21 days post-exposure, with high fever, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach pain. Treatment options involve supportive care, including fluid replacement alongside complication management, and also experimental treatment plus vaccines.
